2009 Grantmaking included the continuation of the Strategic Grants made in 2008. Because of the downturn in the nation’s economy and its effect on the Bunnelle Foundation’s investment portfolio, Sustaining Grants were discontinued. In place of Community Grants offered in prior years, the only competitive grant cycle offered was Grants for the Common Good which invited applicants to apply for general operating support. Forty-six different organizations received a total of $2.1m in grant funding.
