Mrs. Frances P. Bunnelle created the Bunnelle Foundation prior to her death in 2000 in order to support charitable causes serving Georgetown
County, South Carolina.
The foundation is an affiliate of the Coastal Community Foundation in
Charleston, SC.
Mrs. Bunnelle believed that people should care for one another according to their
means, and she quietly gave assistance to the disenfranchised and the disadvantaged. She valued the quality of life in Georgetown County, and she believed in the importance of “community”.

| Recent grants have supported numerous
community resources such as: |
- Tara Hall Home for Boys
- Saint Frances Animal Center
- Tidelands Community Hospice
|
The Foundation’s
Mission is to improve the quality of life for Georgetown County citizens by focusing on causes consistent with Mrs. Bunnelle’s values, with emphasis on:
- Addressing the root causes of poverty
- Meeting basic human needs
- Advancing equitable economic growth and environmental
conservation
-
Encouraging positive youth development.
It was the donor’s hope that the Foundation would not only address current needs, but also focus on underlying problems that are causing inequities
among the County’s citizens. The Foundation’s strategic giving plan is designed to do just that. The Bunnelle Foundation’s strategic giving for 2005-2007
is focusing on encouraging positive youth development.
