Grantmaking
All grants will address one of the four focus areas of the foundation’s mission. While grant making programs will evolve over time as needs and issues change, the foundation Board has currently adopted the following funding programs:
- Strategic Initiative Grants
Significant funding has been provided.
Currently, funding is targeted toward encouraging positive youth
development and the grants have been made. Applications
were accepted by invitation only (2008-2010).
- Grants for the Common Good
Grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded periodically on a competitive basis to non-profit organizations doing exemplary work in any of four focus areas.
- Sustaining Grants
Sustaining Grants have supported established charitable organizations effectively providing services to Georgetown County,
SC citizens. Grant recipients were chosen by the Bunnelle Board of Directors and included organizations that
have received grants from Bunnelle in the past. This grant is intended to build relationships with those nonprofits
that meet specific needs in Georgetown County. This is not a competitive grant program.
- Institution Specific Grants
To honor Mrs. Bunnelle’s commitment to her three “favorite charities,” the foundation has established a program of annual support for Saint Frances
Animal Center, Tara Hall Home for Boys
and Tidelands Community Hospice. The Foundation’s support does not preclude the need for these organizations to continue to raise money from other sources. This is not a competitive grant program.
