About the Foundation

Frances Bunnelle believed that people should care for one another according to their means. She quietly gave assistance to the disenfranchised and the disadvantaged. She valued the quality of life in Georgetown County and she believed in the importance of community. Her trustees adopted guiding principles to carry out her wishes.

Guiding Principles

Using an engaged, long-term approach in community investments.

This comprehensive approach to funding includes technical assistance, collaboration incentives, and leadership development for grantees.

Developing local involvement and leadership.

Strengthening nonprofit organizations and engaging with community leaders in all sectors ensures that grantmaking responds to community needs and opportunities.

Investing in learning processes to improve effectiveness.

The Foundation offers "best practices" learning opportunities to grantees and encourages their replication. It evaluates the work of grantees and shares their success stories.

Collaborating with other philanthropic resources.

Collaborating with other philanthropic partners allows the Foundation to leverage resources committed to Georgetown County.
